Fluff Edit

Background Edit

Joy was originally born somewhere on the continent of Ea, many years ago. When the first agents of the invasion began their activities, they captured and modified a number of humans to serve as spies and operatives- Joy was one of the first such unwilling converts. As the invasion became less subtle and more like an outright war, these initial operatives became less valuable, and their masters often allowed them to wander freely for months at a time. In Joy's case, she was able to board a ship that left Ea entirely- though it suffered disaster and was wrecked on a tiny island somewhere within the Shifting seas. Joy was rescued by a pirate crew from the Isle of Laughing Gallows, a ship which was itself lost far beyond the reach of their charts. After along time and many adventures, the ship returned home, and by then Joy had earned acceptance as a member of the crew. While she remembered nothing of whatever life she might have had before her shipwreck, that was little obstacle among Gaoler society. After a time, Joy moved on from the Isle, and soon made her way to Daunton. Her own wanderlust and thirst for adventure brought her to the Hanged Man, and a society which cared even less for a person's past (or lack thereof) than the pirates did.

Physical Description: Joy is a very attractive young woman of average height with an athletic build. Her skin has a soft golden tone, and her features are pleasant in an exotic fashion; she also has wavy jet black hair that falls halfway down her back. Her eyes are plain, featureless white orbs, but somehow that does not detract from her appearance (and it also does not apparently hinder her vision). Joy wears a set of bright crimson armor made of small overlapping scales like a snake's, under a black leather longcoat, similar to a sailor's oilcloth raincoat. She also carries a slightly curved sword which appears too large for her. She generally prefers finely made clothing and accessories in black, gold, or bright red. When she is using her psionic abilities, she generates an aura of telepathically-broadcast appropriate dramatic music instead of the visual signature usually displayed by ardents.

  • Joy has no memory of her past before she was found by pirates on an isolated island in the Shifting Seas. That doesn't mean that whatever forces created her don't remember her- and maybe they want her back (or want her destroyed).
